Christmas 2011

Well, the holidays have come and gone.

On Saturday (12/24), we drove over to Kristi's house a little early to help get the food ready to eat. At 5 PM we started to eat snack foods (crackers, cheeses, chips, dips, etc) and that was good eatin'. After eating, we were going to have dessert, but since we just ate and all of us were full, we decided to open presents from one another instead. That took a good hour and a half. I have video footage, but I couldn't edit the entire 1 1/2 hours of footage down to 15 minutes for YouTube... So don't expect a video of Christmas Eve. After opening presents, we cleaned up the wrapping paper and then started singing Christmas carols. That kept us entertained for another hour. After presents and singing, we now had dessert... Fruit dipped in a chocolate fountain. After everything, we cleaned up and packed up the van. We drove back home and got ready for Santa. Heidi and Brian drove over to spend the night. They helped the girls get ready for bed and ready for Santa too. I slept in the girls room to make sure they didn't sneak out while Santa was there ; )

Santa came and left the girls lots of good stuff.

On Christmas morning, I woke up around 7:30am and started working on a customers iPod. I walked out to do something in the kitchen and the girls were up looking at their presents. So I put the job on hold and started recording. We let the girls play with their toys, and then we started up the oven and put in a breakfast casserole. After it cooked, we all ate breakfast and then let the girls play with their new dolls. By this time, Grandma K and Great Aunt Jann came over to see the girls open their big gifts.

The girls got new bikes for Christmas. So we took their new dresses off and put on warm clothes so that they could go out side and ride their bikes. Kristi gave the girls new helmets, but they were too small so they didn't fit. So we had to take them back and get new bigger ones later.

We let the girls go outside with their new bikes and let them ride them around.

After letting them ride their bikes, we let the girls play inside and we took it easy.

Earlier, when I first woke up for the day, I started to feel like crap (stuffy nose, throat, etc.) and so I was feeling tired. By noon, I crashed until 4PM. That means I missed church. But I needed the rest and got it. I woke up at 4, and woke Rachel up from her nap that she was taking and we got ready to head to Rachel's mom's house to have Christmas dinner. We arrived a little late (as we normally do) and sat down and started eating. After eating, we sat around the TV so we could listen to The Anniversary Story read to us by Rachel's grandpa years ago via the Apple TV. After listening to that, we sat around and started singing our favorite Christmas carols. Mine was "Winter Wonderland".

Then we started to play a trivia Christmas game of questions like, "Of Santa's reindeer, who is Rudolph's father?" The answer was Donner. We played that until we were out of questions. Even the girls guess some right. Not to brag, but I won with 21 questions right. Sweet! By this time, we were getting tired and since I was sick, we packed up and headed back home for the night. And that was our Christmas.

I hope all of you had a good Christmas and hope you all have a Happy New Year.

Holidays In Salt Lake

Last Thursday (12/8), we packed up and headed up to Salt Lake to visit the family again. Just to let you know, we were up there two weeks ago visiting for Thanksgiving. But we came back up to have a Christmas party on Saturday and then watch the girls open their gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Sharich, Aunt Annie and Uncle Ben, and a couple from my aunts (Gae and Lu) on Sunday.

We made it up there Thursday night and took it easy the rest of the night since I spent the day driving. On Friday, my mom drove down to Nephi, Utah to help my grandma get ready for the party on Saturday. So we went and visited my grandparents in Holladay, Utah, then took it easy the rest of the evening with my dad and brother. We also took the girls to see Christmas lights on Christmas Street in the Sugarhouse area.

Saturday morning came and we drove down to Nephi to have the Christmas party with my mom's side of the family. We ate lunch and then Santa stopped by for the kids... (The best part is at the 6:25 minute mark)

We let the girls open their presents from Santa and then played White Elephant. After cleaning up and saying goodbye to everyone, we packed up in the van and drove back to my parents house. Later that evening, my mom let us open out ornaments. I got a hamburger since I'm always cooking or grilling something.

On Sunday, we had it so the girls would open gifts from my parents.

If you would like to watch the video of them opening presents, your can right-click here to download the video. It's about 30+ minutes long, so that is why I didn't upload it to YouTube.

Then later that afternoon, we went to go see The Muppets with my parents. When we arrived, they had statues in the lobby to promote the upcoming Chipmunks film. I had to take a picture...

We came back to the house and by that time, Annie and Ben had arrived. So we let the girls open presents from them. Later that evening, we took the girls to see the Salt Lake LDS Temple lights.

Monday came and we had to help clean up and clean up our stuff so we could get going. We left around 3-4 in the afternoon and made it down to my Grandma's house in Nephi to say Hi and to visit for a little while. We continued on our way and ran into the storm around Cedar City. Thank goodness my parents bought us new tires for Christmas when we were up for Thanksgiving.

But we had fun. Rachel got to go visit and talk with an old co-worker that now works in Weber County. I got to watch the girls have fun with family... and that is what I asked for for Christmas.

Don't forget, if you want to watch the girls open presents on Sunday morning, right-click here to download the video.
